Are Downspouts Included in Gutter Cleaning?

They should be. A complete cleaning ends with water run through every downspout to prove it drains. Clearing a downspout that is packed solid is often an add-on: $25 to $75 per downspout to flush (Housecall Pro, 2026) or $60 to $150 to clear clogged downspouts (HomeGuide).

What "included" usually means

Most crews include checking the downspouts: water goes in at the top and they watch for full flow at the bottom. If it comes out, you are done. If it backs up, clearing the clog takes time and sometimes taking elbows apart, which is why Housecall Pro lists downspout flushing as a $25 to $75 add-on per downspout and Modernize says adding downspout cleaning may cost $50 to $100 more.

Ask before you book

  • Will every downspout be tested with water?
  • Is clearing a clogged downspout included, or priced per downspout?
  • Do you clear buried drain lines, or only the downspout above ground?
  • Will extensions be put back pointing away from the house?
