Leaf Blower Gutter Attachments: Do They Work?

Updated

Short answer

On dry, loose leaves, yes: an extension kit blows them out of the gutter quickly. On wet, packed debris and seeds, no; it blows the top layer and leaves the sludge. Expect leaves on the roof, siding and lawn, and still test the downspouts.

Best case

A dry week in November, leaves sitting loose in the gutter, a one-story house. Work from one end toward the other with the wind behind you, then rake and bag what lands on the lawn as yard waste.

Where it fails

  • Wet leaves and sludge at the bottom of the gutter.
  • Maple seeds packed at the outlet.
  • Gutters with guards.
  • Downspout clogs, which it cannot reach.

After any blower cleaning, run a hose through each gutter to check the outlets. If you are on a ladder to use it, the ladder rules apply; NIOSH counts about 300 ladder deaths a year.

Quick answers

Can a leaf blower clean gutters?

Dry, loose leaves, yes. Wet debris, seeds and downspout clogs need hand cleaning and flushing.

Rather have someone else do it?

Tell us the address, how tall the house is and what you need. A local crew calls back with a price before anything is booked.
